The Marriage of Figaro: March 6 & 8, 2015 at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts
What better way to begin ConcertIA’s 2015 season than Mozart’s great masterpiece
The Marriage of Figaro!
We have assembled a talented group of young singers and musicians to bring this work to the Coralville/Iowa City corridor on March 6 & 8, 2015. German stage director Joachim Rathke is our guest director, updating the production from the 18th to the 21st century. The libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte is as poignant for 2015 as it was in 1786, examining relationships between husbands and wives, the generations and social status between privilege and the working class.
Our ensemble includes Heather Youngquist as the Countess with her erring husband, The Count sung by Jonathan Christopher. The ever present Susanna will be performed by Sarah Thompson Johansen and Figaro will be sung by new-comer Joe Arko. The rest of the ensemble is a rich mix of wonderfully talented performers including Kate Galetti, Allison Holmes-Bendixen, James Thompson, Ivo Suarez, Sean Lynch and Priscilla Lalaga. ConcertIA’s chamber orchestra will be in the orchestra pit of the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts led by ConcertIA’s artistic director, Shari Rhoads.
Sung in original language with super titles, you will leave the concert hall uplifted.
This is a fundraiser for the upcoming production of Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) to be performed at CCPA on March 6 & 8, 2015. Ticket information for the October 3 concert is available at CCPA’s website here. A special $75 “Gold” ticket gains access to a post gala “after-glow” concert where you can meet the singers and hear them sing a lighter fair: selections of musicals and popular songs. Join us for a wonderful evening, connecting Iowa musicians with Iowa communities!
